Los Angeles with kids

3 Days in Los Angeles with Kids: an Easy Family Itinerary

Los Angeles is huge, so the trick with kids is one area a day: you spend your time on the fun, not in traffic. This plan covers Hollywood and Griffith Park, the museums of Exposition Park, and the beach.

The Play Your Trip card for Los Angeles

It leaves out the theme parks, which each need a full day: add them with our Disneyland or Universal comparison. Check hours and reservations on the official websites.

Tips for LA with kids

  • Pick a base near what you'll do most: Santa Monica for beaches, Hollywood or Downtown for museums, Anaheim for Disneyland.
  • Avoid rush hours for long drives; LA traffic is the biggest time-eater.
  • Metro rail reaches some highlights (Hollywood, Exposition Park, Santa Monica) if you'd rather not drive.
  • Sun protection all year: hats, sunscreen and water.
